What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
That I would need to learn how to pivot. Whether it’s re-specifying a discontinued product or handling an unexpected surprise during construction, it’s crucial that, as a designer, I remain flexible and open to change.
What might we find on your desk right now?
There is an array of items: wood door samples, my favorite chapstick, a Sherwin-Williams paint deck, and a jar full of Hershey’s Kisses.
What book is on your nightstand?
I am currently reading Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner; memoirs are one of my favorite genres.
What inspired you to go into your line of work?
I’ve always had a creative mind and a passion for helping others. I took an interior design course in high school and recognized that it was a career that would allow me to combine my creativity and my love for people. Now, I am able to use my creativity to design spaces in a way that positively impacts the user.
What are some of your favorite design related blogs and/or mobile apps?
I always enjoy the Snapshots websites (Healthcare, Education, etc.) It’s refreshing and inspiring to see projects from different regions, not only nationally, but internationally. They serve as a great reference for all project types and interior products. I also love Design Milk, especially their Instagram.
When needing a break from it all what helps you escape?
By allowing myself to be creative, especially in a way that differs from my day-to-day work. I enjoy scrapbooking, painting, and have been learning how to crochet.
