What book is on your nightstand
Jungalow: Decorate Wild by Justina Blakeney. I appreciate how she leans in to mixing styles, materials, colors, and textures in such a joyful way.
Do you have anything in your home that you’ve designed/created?
I love to paint, so I have a few pieces that I’ve made around my home.
What inspired you to go into your line of work?
I originally went to college on the path to Psychology. During my studies, I took an environmental psychology course and was amazed how much people’s environment influences how they act and feel. A person’s surroundings have a huge impact on their lives every single day. I really wanted to be a part of creating spaces for people to thrive.
Do you have any rules or philosophies that steer you in design and/or career?
“Good design goes unnoticed.” When it comes to designing anything, I think it should appear effortless, seamless, and beautiful. It’s stunning because of the details, refining, and planning done, along the way. It should be intuitive, functional, and not overly fussy.
When needing a break from it all what helps you escape?
I love to swim, hike, and camp; Anything that brings me closer to nature. I also love gardening. Getting your hands dirty is a great way to stay grounded.
What are the last five songs you’ve listened to?
I’m into music from different eras and genres. Below are a few recent frequent plays.
- “I’m the Only One” Melissa Etheridge
- “Fast Car” Tracy Chapman
- “My Kink is Karma” Chappell Roan
- “Higher Ground” Stevie Wonder
- “Summer Girl” HAIM
