How have you found IIDA invaluable?
The opportunity to travel and see other projects in our region is amazing! I’m also in a phase of life where planning and attending events is not something I have a lot of time for, so the accessibility of IIDA hosted events and CEUs have been great to take part in.
What new product(s) are you excited to use in upcoming work?
I just specified some custom wood paneling and stained a faux wood acoustical product to match, so I am excited to see how that installation turns out.
Do you have any rules or philosophies that steer you in design and/or career?
I spend a significant amount of time researching the material health of products we specify. The sustainability story of materials and manufacturers has become an integral part of my design process.
What inspired you to go into your line of work?
After shadowing a local architect in high school, I was enthralled with the office's large drawing sets and materials. Architecture felt like the right path, aligning my early interests in travel and art with the conceptual side of design.
Who/what sources do you look to for drive and inspiration?
Travel is very inspiring to me as it relates to new ideas and interior concepts. I also feel a burst of inspiration after CEUs and conferences, specifically those related to sustainable design, culture, and collaboration in the workplace.
What might we find on your desk right now?
I don’t have a permanent desk at the office. I am considered a ‘free address’ employee and choose a different desk/location each day. That being said, I always have some emergency candy in my backpack for a sweet treat.
