Course Description:

Session 1: But I’m Not in Sales – Carol Jones, FIDC, FIIDA, LEED AP and Richard Pollack, FAIA, FIIDA

[0.2 IDCEC]  A course in marketing professional services by two expert business developers – why do it, when to do it, how to do it.  Topics include:

  • Strategies for making business development more effective and more fun

  • How to develop and maintain a network for business development leads

  • How to build more productive client relationships

  • How to grow your own firm or how to become an indispensible marketing resource for your employer

Session 2: Standards, Engagement and Trends in Commercial Interiors, and Why Products Matter – Martin Flaherty, Pencilbox Inc.

This course offers a review of the value of standards for commercial furniture and how materials can affect employee engagement.  It is intended to familiarize the A&D community, facility managers, commercial building owners, end users, dealers, and manufacturers with the issues associated with why standards matter and why employee engagement can be affected by quality materials and how it applies to their everyday need to specify sustainable products.

Session 3: Design Thinking: Empathetic Problem Solving for a customer Centric Strategy – Chris Stulpin, Senior Vice President of Design at Tarkett

Innovation is no longer innovative.  This course will discuss demystifying innovation and show how co-creation is the way forward.  We’re surrounded by “innovation”.  Real innovation [that takes us somewhere new] and innovation that’s just marketing speak is all around us.  How do we separate the two and understand what real innovation means?
